Eastern-only Program

Qualified individuals may apply for our "Eastern-only" program. This consists of all courses in Eastern theory and practice, as well as a requirement for hands-on coursework. The hands-on portion is equal to half the requirement for students taking the complete East-West program.

Who may enroll as an Eastern-only students? If you are already a massage therapist schooled in Western styles of massage, this program may be for you. Certain other healing arts professionals may also qualify. Because of the way our curriculum is structured, our Eastern courses assume a certain level of knowledge of the body and of massage in general. Important fundamentals are covered outside of these classes.

Many massage therapists with several years of experience have benefited from completing our Eastern-only program. Some are looking to expand their skills and perspective beyond the Western view, while others are licensed in states that require fewer hours than Wisconsin, and wish to broaden their education while becoming state-qualified in Wisconsin.

Tuition

Hands-on coursework

Hands-on coursework for the Eastern-only student totals 160 clock hours, as described below. This is half the requirement for the student enrolled in the full East-West program.

Student Clinic

(96 clock hrs.)

Students will perform therapeutic and relaxation massage on 25 clients under the supervision of an instructor. The student clinic allows students to implement the theory and techniques of Western and Eastern massage in a professional setting. This experience will help students develop self confidence, professionalism, and expertise.

Community Service

(32 clock hrs.)

Students will perform massage within the local community and at special events with the supervision of school staff. This practical experience has proven to be successful in helping students to further develop their skills in communicating with the public and at the same time is a benefit to our community.

Documented Independent Massage

(32 clock hrs.)

Students must document 12 hours of massage treatments on a minimum of 8 clients. The accumulation of these hours will begin in the first term and must be completed by the fourth term.
